Hey…did you hear? Its fall! Well technically fall is 2 days away but, I am sitting in my apartment in sweat pants and a sweat shirt and it is delightfully fall-ish. And in the spirit of my favorite season I bring to you a recipe that you have to make while there is a plethora of yummy, juicy pears in the markets. You can spread this on toast, mix into oatmeal, serve with pork chops or chicken, put on top of ice cream. Oh and did I mention its a crock pot recipe so it is super easy. See, now you really want to make it.
makes about 2 cups (1 wide mouth mason jar)
10-12 medium pears, peeled and small diced
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup sugar
Place ingredients in crock pot and cook on low for 10-12 hours, until pears are super soft and sauce has thickened.
Optional Step: if you prefer a smoother fruit butter you can blend or food process the mixture after it has cooked in the crock pot.
Spread this on toast, mix into oatmeal, serve with pork chops or chicken, put on top of ice cream.
